Fishing Report

(5/4) Though things are warming up, the Kennebec Watershed has not really turned on and probably won’t be in full swing until June when the stripers arrive. There are still boats running offshore for halibut, cod, and haddock, but it’s important to pay attention to the weather along with the ever-changing bag limits and regulations for these tasty fish when running offshore. Most of us are organizing tackle boxes and checking Instagram at our southern friend’s pictures of fish.

Freshwater fishing is hot right now for trout in rivers and ponds. The Knickerbocker Lakes offer a pretty canoe cruise and are stocked with trout. Trolling with smelt patterns or live minnows should get them fired up.
